      Our Second daughter was born in December 1849 1 oclock Am in the old Homestead of N.N. Destrehan Parish of Jefferson La. and we have name her in honor of her Grand Mother, Harriette Louise Harvey.

    • FINAL RITES HELD FOR MRS. FAZANDE
      Funeral services for Mrs. Henrietta Harvey DeGruy Fazande, 88 years old, were held Wednesday afternoon at the funeral parlors of Albert E. Briede and Son, Inc., 1160 Camp street. Religious rites were conducted in Our Lady of Good Counsel church, 1307 Louisiana Avenue, and internment was in Metairie cemetery.
      Mrs. Fazande died Tuesday morning at the home of her son, Louis DeGruy, 3141 Laurel street. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Harvey, who started the canal that bears his name, and a descendant of the Destrehan family, prominent in Louisiana history.
      She is survived by five sons, Joseph, Edgar, Harvey, Samuel and Louis DeGruy; a daughter Mrs. Kinta Melbourne; two sisters, Mrs. Laura Segan and Mrs. Jeannie Maguire, and a brother Horance Harvey.

      MRS. FAZANDE DIES AT SON'S RESIDENCE
      Descendant of Destrehan Family Native of Jefferson Parish
      Mrs. Henrietta Harvey DeGruy Fazande, daughter of Joseph Harvey, who started the canal that bears his name, died suddenly Tuesday morning at the home of her son, Louis DeGruy, 3141 Laurel street. She was 88 years old.
      Her father began building the canal with slave labor. He died half a century ago, and his work was continued and completed by his son, Horace Harvey.
      Mrs. Fazende, born in Jefferson Parish, first married Horace DeGruy. Some time after his death she married the late M. D. Fazande.
      She was a descendant of the Destrehan Family, prominent in the history of Louisiana. She had resided in New Orleans for a number of years.
      A daughter and five sons survive. They are Mrs. Kinta Melbourne, and Joseph, Edgar, Harvey, Samuel and Louis DeGruy. She leaves also two sisters, Mrs. Laura Segan and Mrs. Jennie Maguire and a brother, Horace Harvey.
      The Funeral will be held at 12:30 p.m. today at the parlors of Albert E. Briede and Son, Inc., 1160 Camp street, with services in Our Lady of Good Counsel church, 1307 Louisiana Avenue, and interment in Metairie Cemetery.
